Technica Communications, a boutique, full-service public relations, social media, and content marketing firm, is honored to be a named a winner by PRNEWS in the Mobility Campaign Category of the 2022 Social Impact Awards for the agency’s work on the Cory Lee Influencer Trip for its client Winnebago Industries, Specialty Vehicle Division. Technica identified influencer outreach as a critical area of PR support and partnered  with popular influencer Cory Lee promoted accessible RV travel for individuals with disabilities and mobility restrictions. The effort increased Winnebago’s social media following by 54 percent, with more than 47,000 impressions.  Technica also received an honorable mention in the Campaign by a Woman-Owned Business category.

“An estimated 25 million Americans reported having travel-limiting disabilities; the prospect of traveling can be daunting and prohibitive both physically, mentally, and economically. this market has been critically underserved and underrepresented in outdoor adventure life and the RV market,” explained Technica CEO Lisa Ann Pinkerton. “And with this demographic spread widely through the populous and few publications dedicated to the space, it’s a hard group to disseminate a message and a product through general news avenues. By spending a few thousand dollars on influencer campaigns, Winnebago increased its online presence and obtained sales inquiries and leads when the trips were in effect. Still, most importantly, we used the opportunity to build relationships with Winnebago and the market they serve.”

Since 1967, Winnebago’s Specialty Vehicle Division has leveraged the Winnebago Industries motorhome platform to design and build Accessibility Enhanced (AE) RVs and personalized community and mobile outreach vehicles. Winnebago’s AE line was launched as a standardized option in 2019 and was updated to include even more opportunities for people with mobility restrictions. As RV travel hit a nearly all-time high during the COVID-19 pandemic, Winnebago sought to maintain follower growth and engagement and extend its reach with a more extensive dealer network.

“Building off of the success of our previous Winnebago influencer campaign, our team wanted to make sure we addressed the real-life travel scenarios that mobility-challenged individuals face while out on the road. We focused on influencers that managed active blogs and social media accounts such as YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook to ensure that the influencer could promote Winnebago through text, image, and video content to further highlight the many functions and upgrades of the Accessibility Enhanced RV,” explained Sarah Malpeli, Account Supervisor at Technica. “By meticulously planning and promoting this trip, our team exceeded its goal of ten percent social media channel growth. More importantly, we helped Cory show many of his followers with mobility restrictions that they too could enjoy RV travel.”
