In Loving Memory of Jake Wengroff
Jaimie “Jake” Wengroff, 53, was an Account Manager at Technica for over three years. He died suddenly on Sunday, August 11, 2024, and is survived by his twin brother and mother. Jake left an indelible mark on us here at Technica, professionally and personally.
Jake joined Technica as an Account Manager in 2021, bringing a wealth of experience in PR, marketing, and technology. His unique gift for infusing joy, positivity, and fun into every interaction, even in our virtual environment, made our days brighter and our work more meaningful. His ability to connect and engage was truly exceptional.
Jake’s impact on our team was immeasurable. He was more than a colleague; he was a mentor, a support system, and a true friend to everyone he worked with. Jake had an extraordinary ability to instill confidence in others, teaching by example how to approach any situation with a ‘glass half full’ perspective. His kindness, compassion, and selflessness touched everyone he encountered.
Technica Contributions
As an Account Manager, Jake expertly handled clients across diverse industries, including innovative companies in clean energy, IoT, and sustainable technologies. His leadership style blended poise and rationality with the boundless optimism required for Sherpa startup entrepreneurs to realize their companies’ goals. Jake’s personality was ideally suited for the fast-paced PR world. His enthusiasm was contagious, especially when landing a significant yet seemingly unattainable media placement or winning a longshot new client RFP.
Jake’s gift for storytelling brought our meetings to life, weaving in specific details that made innovations shine. He often joked that he was “a clean energy writer who was still learning the hydrogen rainbow,” a testament to his humility and eagerness to expand his knowledge continually. His sharp wit and sense of humor brightened every meeting he was in. His gift for inventing collective nouns for the client teams (Lumineers, Zapbatters, etc. ) was a clever morale booster, especially when times were tough. And a friend whose company was genuinely enjoyed by all; we profoundly appreciated his humility and eagerness to learn.
Colleagues valued the insightful conversations they had with Jake. His discussions ranged from deep strategic insights to lighthearted banter, always offering a fresh perspective. Jake had a remarkable ability to see beyond challenges and provide innovative solutions. His humor, consideration, and strategic thinking made him an invaluable asset to every project he touched.
Jake’s passion for his work was evident in creating several listicles for Technica, championing individuals making a difference in their sectors of the cleantech industry. His work exceeded the listicles, as he was a treasure trove of information in PR, social media, and other events. His enthusiasm and dedication were contagious, allowing our clients the opportunity to thrive under Jake’s expertise and enthusiasm.
Honoring Jake
Jake’s passing leaves a void in our agency and our hearts. Yet, his legacy at Technica Communications will live on through the strategies he implemented, the relationships he built, and the countless lives he touched. His beautiful mark on this world is a testament to a life of purpose, kindness, and joy.
We commit to carrying forward his spirit of optimism, creativity, and kindness in all we do to honor Jake’s memory. We will continue approaching our work with the same enthusiasm and innovation he brought to every task. We will support one another with the compassion and selflessness that Jake exemplified every day. And we will strive to tell stories with the same passion and skill that made Jake an exceptional PR professional.
As we navigate the difficult path forward, we take comfort in Jake’s positive spirit’s lasting influence. We are grateful for our time with him, his shared wisdom, and the laughter we enjoyed together. Jake’s legacy of kindness, strategic thinking, and unwavering optimism will continue to guide us, reminding us constantly of our power to make each day a little brighter for those around us.
