TRANSMISSION LOSSES

The amount of power lost in the course of transmission due to resistance of the conductors. Transmitting energy at higher voltages reduces the amount of energy lost. In high-voltage transmission, these losses typically amount to approximately 5-7 percent of the total power put into the system.
