THERMAL BATTERY

A concept that involves directing excess wind or solar power to a heating element, elevating the temperature of a liquid metal bath or graphite block to several thousand degrees. Thermophotovoltaics (TPVs) channel the stored heat to a metal film or filament, causing it to emit light similar to the tungsten wire in an incandescent light bulb. Subsequently, TPVs absorb the emitted light, converting it into electricity.
