Electrodes include anodes and cathodes, both essential components of cells and batteries. They can be made of zinc, copper or other materials and serve as electrical conductors that rest in liquid or solid electrolytes. The anode is the negative electrode that releases electrons, while the cathode is the positive electrode that acquires electrons.
