COMMISSIONING

 In

A systematic process of ensuring that a building performs in accordance with the design intent, contract documents, and the owner’s operational needs. For example, in a new office building, the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems of a building are tested and balanced according to industry standards and expectations before acceptance by the building owner. Commissioning ensures that the new building operates initially as the owner intended and that building staff are prepared to operate and maintain its systems and equipment.
