TECHNICA COMMUNICATIONS HONORED WITH TWO 2020 AMERICAN BUSINESS AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE IN PUBLIC RELATIONS

Firm’s CEO Receives Silver Stevie in the PR Executive of the Year Category and Bronze in PR Campaign New Product or Service for ZeroAvia PR Launch

May 18, 2020 – The 18th Annual American Business Awards have honored the boutique clean energy and transportation public relations firm Technica Communications in two categories. Founder and CEO Lisa Ann Pinkerton received a Silver Stevie in the PR Executive of the Year Category and the agency also won a Bronze Stevie in the PR Campaign of the Year New Product or Service Launch Category for their work launching the zero-emission aviation startup ZeroAvia from stealth, in collaboration with the U.K. PR firm Madano.

The American Business Awards are the U.S.A.’s premier business awards program. All organizations operating in the U.S.A. are eligible to submit nominations – public and private, for-profit and nonprofit, large and small. Nicknamed the Stevies for the Greek word meaning “crowned,” the awards will be virtually presented to winners during a live event on Wednesday, August 5.

More than 3,600 nominations from organizations of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted this year for consideration in a wide range of categories. More than 230 professionals worldwide participated in the judging process to select this year’s Stevie Award winners.

As the Founder and CEO of Technica Communications, Lisa Ann Pinkerton has grown the agency exponentially over the past three years, with a 67.6 percent increase of business since 2018. Technica moved from working with small startups to mature, international organizations, like EV Connect, Centrica Business Solutions, Winnebago Specialty Vehicles division, and OutBack Power Technologies. Lisa Ann leads companies through the web of new and traditional media with targeted messaging that helps clients gain coverage in top-tier publications, like Bloomberg, Forbes, Fortune, and others that bolster business goals.

In addition to Technica, Lisa Ann inspires women in the field through her work as the founder of Women in Cleantech & Sustainability. During the coronavirus pandemic, Lisa Ann took the opportunity to build virtual events and accelerate the organization’s future goal of expanding internationally. She led  WCS to create a dense program of weekly virtual events, including panels, workshops, and virtual happy hours. Approximately 500 tickets to these virtual events sold in the first month, with people joining from as far as Europe and Japan.

For the ZeroAvia Campaign Bronze Stevie Award, Technica, in partnership with U.K. PR firm, Madano, coordinated the global launch with a series of two press releases that garnered overwhelming media attention – putting ZeroAvia on the lips of investors, potential partners, and government regulators. Together, Technica and Madano secured a variety of exposure for ZeroAvia. The 138 articles and release pickup equated to over 401 million in potential reach. ZeroAvia would have had to purchase over $3.7 million in advertising to equal the same level of exposure.

After the campaign, 11 upcoming conferences made room for the company to speak on their panels, including the Bloomberg New Energy Finance Summit, the National Association of State Energy Officials, and Revolution Aero USA. ZeroAvia was also selected as a finalist for the 23rd annual SXSW Innovation Awards.

“Despite the toughest business conditions in memory, American organizations continue to demonstrate their commitment to innovation, creativity, and bottom-line results,” said Stevie Awards president Maggie Gallagher.  “This year’s Stevie-winning nominations are full of inspiring stories of persistence, ingenuity, resourcefulness, and compassion.  We celebrate all of their stories and look forward to showcasing them during our virtual awards ceremony on August 5.”
