Melanie is a communications and media veteran with experience in journalism, media relations, and content development. Prior to joining Technica, she spent a decade working with nonprofits, local government, and educational organizations to create compelling, media-ready content for WATE-TV, the ABC affiliate in Knoxville, Tennessee. While at WATE, she moved up the ranks, starting as an assistant but wearing as many hats and learning as much as possible in order to work into a senior leadership position as the station’s Director of Programming & Community Development. In that role, she worked closely with the newsroom and brings a journalist’s perspective to her work at Technica. Melanie’s work with the nonprofit sector gained her recognition among Young Leaders to Watch in Knoxville Business Journal’s 2019 “40 Under 40” List.
Melanie holds a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science from the University of Tennessee, with focuses in communications, journalism and mental health counseling. She thrives on navigating the tangled media landscape to tell meaningful client stories. Melanie is also passionate about leaving a cleaner, healthier planet to the next generation.
