Public Relations Account Supervisor

The Account Supervisor is a media and public relations professional responsible for overseeing and driving the development and implementation of integrated public relations strategies for clients, while overseeing the performance of the entire account team. This position is client-facing and is frequently called upon by clients to bring creativity to account activities, as well as troubleshoot and provide advice on challenging situations.   

The Account Supervisor reports to the Technica C-Suite and collaborates with and mentors team members, including Account Managers, Account Executives, and Account Coordinators, and Social Media Coordinators and Managers to achieve the goals outlined for and by the client. 

The Account Supervisor also serves as a liaison between the CEO and teams, ensuring that the company voice is observed and the overall strategy is executed. They also have the opportunity to help to build the company’s various practice areas by bringing in new business or interviewing new employment candidates. 

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in and oversee the development of clients’ PR strategies and tactics
  • Collaborate with multiple internal stakeholders to ensure consensus around tactics’ scope and approach
  • Guide the development and evolution of client messaging and media outreach
  • Oversee the management of a team of PR professionals to deliver value to the client
  • Ensure client feedback is gathered, understood, and addressed as appropriate across deliverables
  • Actively engage and communicate with the team, media, and clients as required via email, phone, and Slack. 
  • Motivate, mentor, and train other team members as needed.
  • Support the agency CEO in growing the business by cultivating relationships with industry stakeholders 
  • Nurture relationships with a broad base of media
  • Attend events and trade shows and manage clients on site
  • Have a deep understanding of the current and evolving media landscape and industry market segments
  • Provide guidance on client issues to the junior staff when needed and escalates/engages leadership appropriately

Job requirements and qualifications

Account Supervisor applicants should contain the following requirements and qualifications:

  • Must have at least 8 years of working experience in public relations
  • BA or equivalent Degree in PR, communications, journalism, or relevant field
  • Strong work ethic and autonomous work style, with a track record of delivering high-quality content and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced, growing, and changing environment
  • Experience managing a team 
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the PR craft and the market segments to which our clients belong
  • Experience in cleantech, sustainability, built environment, transportation, and related fields is a plus
  • Strong written and oral communications and presentations skills
  • Highly organized, and able to multi-task and work under limited supervision
